Even a long flight can be enjoyable

Those who are used to cheap flights, free blankets and free meals already know those days are difficult to get back. In the present economic turbulence, airlines have to cut the cost in every possible way.

Get Enough Sleep
Still, there are things you can do to make your flight experience enjoyable. For example, try to sleep as much as possible in long flights. Caffeine and alcohol should be avoided and use eye mask and ear plugs should be used to ensure sleep without distraction. You may also use a neck pillow and enjoy good thoughts about what you are likely to do once you reach your destination.

Take Enough Water
Don’t depend on the flight attendants to provide you with a regular supply of water. You should bring your own water bottle along. Flying is a dehydrating experience and water keeps you hydrated through the flight. Continue with your breathing and stretching routine even when you are on your own seat. If the flight attendants allow you, stretch your legs at least once every two hours. If that is not allowed, you can try some deep breathing instead.

Wear Comfy Clothes
Just like water, do not depend on the flight attendants to provide you a steady supply of food. Take along some food of your own to eat every now and them. These points become even more important when you are traveling on a cheaper flight as a part of good holiday packages. Also, make sure you wear only comfortable clothes. Choose a fabric which will look alright even when it gets wrinkled. Walking shoes are sturdy in nature, and are important because chances are you may have to walk all the way from terminal 1 to terminal 31. Another advantage of wearing shoes is that you won’t have to pack them.

Pack Your Things Correctly
It is difficult to forecast the temperature on the flight. It may be very chilly or hot like Saharan weather. Since the airlines would not be providing blankets on the flight any more, it’s your responsibility to keep yourself comfortable during the long flight.

Get Cheap Flights Tickets during Peak Season

Most of the frequent fliers, when they buy an airline ticket, do not make enough effort to read the fine print. It is only natural because the details often happen to be confusing and take longer to read than necessary. Reading it fully becomes a tedious and unpleasant task. This situation suits the airlines as well because all the restrictions about the flight are mentioned in the fine print. Most of the additional revenue of airlines comes from this very fine print.

The consumers need to ask themselves a question- would they buy a car without reading all the terms and conditions? By the same logic, shouldn't they also be asking more questions about the airlines’ fine print? Just like other services or products, the travelers first need to know all the requirements put forth by the airlines so that they become qualified for that cheap air fare they are running after. Before you buy the ticket for your next cheap flight, you need to get a few basics right.

Cheap Flight Tickets are Non Refundable
The cheap airline tickets, in most of the cases are non refundable. If you agree to pay a fee, however, you can exchange that ticket for another flight. Changing a flight has its own costs which varies according to the situation (re-routing is not allowed).

Book in Advance
Another stipulation is about flight dates. To book a cheap holidays, you need to book your flight several days in advance. The flight scheduled should be available to you in advance so you don't miss out on a great deal. Some airlines offer cheap flights only on specific days of the week. During peak season (such as Christmas), cheap flights are not available on most airlines.

In Peak Season, Even Frequent Flyer Points are not allowed
Those who take the advantage of frequent flier points and miles should be aware; there are certain times during the year when these miles or points cannot be availed. Those who intend to buy round trip or one way tickets, should know that reading terms and conditions before buying such tickets is important. The reason is - you may be required to take the hidden costs into account, how much in advance do you have to buy the ticket or whether there is any minimum or maximum destination stay stipulated in the ticket?
